Beach notes

A narrow stretch of pale sand, surrounded by fragrant pine trees, clear turquoise water and the dramatic mountains of the Formentor peninsula. The sheltered bay is ideal for swimming and the trees can provide welcome natural shade on hot summer days. Its beauty attracts plenty of visitors. During peak season, the beach becomes extremely crowded, leaving little room to spread out. Parking is very limited and can be expensive while the winding access road gets busy. Seasonal traffic restrictions also mean that driving to the beach is not always possible once the car park is full. Sunbeds and refreshments can be rather pricey, too. My tip: Visit early in the morning or outside the peak summer months to experience Formentor at its best. Alternatively, take the bus from Port de Pollença and avoid the parking hassle altogether. Check the latest road restrictions before travelling.

Worth knowing Check seasonal road access before you go. The rules can change and the peninsula gets busy.
